In a recent interview with Automobile, the recently independent Ferrari’s new CEO Sergio Marchionne, who is also the CEO of FCA, confirmed that the LaFerrari hypercar will spawn a convertible variant.
The convertible, aptly named the Ferrari LaFerrari Spider, will be the company’s new top-dog model and it is already looking for suitable customers. When Automobile contacted Ferrari and asked about its future products which could include a Dino-like low-cost model and others, Sergio Marchionne simply responded by saying that “the only future product connected to the LaFerrari is the Spider.”
As of this writing, we do not have any official information regarding the Ferrari LaFerrari Spider like photos, engine and chassis specs, the price or even how many units will be built. However, based on its exclusive status in the company’s portfolio, our best guesstimate (at the moment) is that the total units produced will be perhaps less than 100.
Final sale price for the Ferrari LaFerrari Spider is yet to be announced, but like its other derivative, the FXX K, expect the price to well above the coupé $1.42 million mark.
